During the summer of 2022 I was asked to join the production of the Series The Swarm, headed by showrunner Frank Doelger, as music editor. Over the course of the next months, I spend a lot of
time focusing especially on the spotting for the music, trying out different musical approaches, nudging Daschas cues back and forth.
From Sound FX to score, to music editing, and finally to mixing a lot of conscious, creative choices went into the maing of the sonic world of The Swarm. This is especially notable in the interplay between music and Sound FX, where both give each other room to breathe and shine when its due. A great example of this is the opening of Episode 1, which starts with six minutes of pure, audio-visual storytelling, before you even hear the first line of dialogue.
Dascha did an outstanding job with the score, creating just the right, unique atmosphere to immerse you in the world of The Swarm, and it interacts beautifully with the Sounddesign.
